Angels Can’t Even Celebrate Right

While my hate for the Angels runs deep, it still is only “Sports Hate”. As such, I would never wish for an injury to happen (ok, I am even lying there, but I don’t want to sound like a complete jerk). But, if it is going to happen, I am pretty happy that it happened on a celebration of a walk-off homer. Stupid Angels didn’t realize that they have to keep legs out from under their hero’s jump, and now Kendry Morales, who can hit more homeruns than the entire A’s team combined, is out for surgery, and I will not lose a wink of sleep over it. I might even go to sleep smiling.

To read about the “tragedy”, go here… tragedy

Kendry never has been very good at jumping, hopefully Suzuki followed through on his kicking motion

Yea for America

Sometimes beautiful things happen in this country of ours.  In the same country where Jesse “The Body” Ventura and Arnold “The Terminator” Schwarzenegger can be governor, a new name has tossed their hat into the political arena, Linda McMahon!

Our Senate could use some of the old McMahon flare.  To steal from the Sports Guy, can’t you imagine the McMahon theme music burst out as she walks down the aisle or votes.  She might even whip out Hogan’s “I am a Real American”.  Who wouldn’t be fired up and inspired to make this a bettter country?

“I Thought They Had More Faith in Me”

Really? Seriously?  Come on Chad, the A’s have already gotten rid of you once, this shouldn’t come as a major surpise.  Plus, look at the numbers… An earned run an inning, a whip of 1.85, and 5 hrs in 17 innings?  The only question is what took so long?  Sure, those are inflated a little bit by the beating he took as the A’s gave away the game on Saturday, but even before, he was awful.  In our house, he was known as the “Human White Flag”.  Every time he was called upon, especially in a close game, I thought ”Geren, are you trying to get fired?  I know you and Billy are best friends and all, but come on!”

Here’s how memorable Chad’s time with the A’s was (including his prior stint), when I searched for images of him in an A’s uniform, more pics came up with Rich Harden mistakenly identified as Chad.  Who needs faith? The A’s know you are terrible Chad.

Brutal Loss

It was a brutal loss today, especially when taking into account the wonderful job done by pitching staff.  One run in 12 innings is simply unacceptable.  Even worse, Bailey appears human for the first time as he has given up runs in two straight games with a blown save and a loss.  Plus, Michael Taylor has an injury in the minors.  We need the Phoenix Suns medical staff, do whatever it takes to get them Billy.  They healed Grant Hill, they can work miracles.

Landon “Crazy Legs” Powell

How many times, including yesterday, has Landon Powell been held at third where anybody else with at least one leg would have scored standing up?  I’d wager the number ranges close to a billion.  However, Crazy Legs made a mad dash to second on a botched bunt attempt by Rajai (seriously Rajai, how can you not get a bunt down, you should bunt 3 times a game with your speed) and beat the throw for his first stolen base as a major leaguer.  He later scored on Barton’s hit and it turned out to be the game winning run.   How in the world did this happen?  I did some investigation and it appears that there was some funky business going on.  I slow-motioned my DVR and was shocked to make this discovery.

Isn’t that world record holder Usain Bolt?  It is tough to tell as everybody looks the same in the Green and Gold.  This could be Bob Geren’s first brillant managing move.
