Oakland signed your hero and mine Emil Brown to a one-year contract on Friday.  Brown spent the last three years in Kansas City, but you probably know him better from his best-selling line of video games, omnipresent sports drink endorsements and high-end sneaker deals. 

One may question the wisdom of signing such a high profile free agent in the midst of a rebuilding year, but I’m okay with it.  With a trade for Mark Kotsay due any minute now, we needed someone to make up for his dominating presence in the lineup.  Mission accomplished.
